Under 15 Interschool Chess Championship Report

Harrison College romped home to win the Under 15 section of the 2015 Massy United Insurance interschool chess championship concluded recently at the St. Michael school.

The Crumpton Street team racked up a formidable 54 points out of a possible 60 to finish 14 points ahead of the 2nd place finishers Queens College. Harrisons showed how relentless they were and in the last round crushed St. Leonards A 8 2, with victories for Kyle Sandiford, Nitin Mahtani, Anoish Pais and Jacob Pile, while Dondre Hinds scored for St. Leonards.

Also in the last round, second place finishers Queens College demolished St. Michael 10 0, with wins by Niccolo Walrond, Jennifer Jiang, Dajmar Bynoe, Shane Maughn and Segan Sandiford.

Finishing in an unfamiliar 3rd position was the Lodge school who defeated Deighton Griffith in the last round 8 2, with wins for Cody Jack- Sargeant, Chad King, Trey Edwards and Makeisha Lewis, while Tariq Inniss scored for Deighton.

Other final round results saw Coleridge & Parry whipping St. Leonards B 10 0 and St. Michael receiving the bye.

The final top four standings were Harrison College ( 54 points), Queens College ( 40 points), Lodge (34), St. Leonards A (33) .
